About The Bardvark

Bardvark Logo

As Bard High School Early College Manhattan’s award-winning newspaper, The Bardvark has long been an outlet for students to channel and develop their journalistic voices. Founded in 2003, just two years after the start of BHSEC, The Bardvark has become a fixture of the school. It is now 23, older than BHSEC’s current student body and the tenure of most professors at this institution.

Whether you're an experienced writer or have never written an article before, we encourage every student to contribute. We welcome all submissions, and our editorial team is here to help writers at every stage of the process, from brainstorming ideas to polishing a final draft.

Our staff meets on the first and second Wednesday of each month to plan upcoming issues, which are typically published during the first week of the following month.

Our beloved mascot is an aardvark, dressed in honor of BHSEC's founding principal, Ray Peterson.
