About The Bardvark

As Bard High School Early College Manhattan’s award-winning newspaper, The Bardvark has long been an outlet for students to channel and develop their journalistic voices. Founded in 2003, just two years after the start of BHSEC, The Bardvark has become a fixture of the school (If that doesn’t sound old, just know that 2003 is the same year the class of 2021 was born, and half of BHSEC’s student body was born in a world lacking The Bardvark).

All students are encouraged to try out their hand in writing for The Bardvark. We welcome all submissions and our excellent editors will guide you along the way. We meet on the first Wednesday of each month to discuss the next issue, which is published on the last Wednesday of each month.

Our lovely mascot is an aardvark dressed in the style of BHSEC’s founding principle, Ray Peterson. If you are so lucky, you might even meet the real life Bardvark at a BHSEC event near you!

If you have more questions please visit our FAQ Page or email us at bardvark@gmail.com
