The Irony and Idiocy of the War in Iran

The war in Iran started by the United States and Israel has received enormous media attention, which has continued even after the fragile ceasefire that was signed just a day after Jeffrey Epstein's best friend, U.S. President Donald Trump, said that ‘a whole civilization’ would die if Iran didn’t sign a deal with the U.S. 

In a classic move, Trump chickened out of committing war crimes on an entire country (thankfully) and announced a two week ceasefire between the U.S, Israel, and Iran, putting the war on pause while ceasefire talks were being held in Pakistan, which lasted for 21 hours before Vice President J.D. Vance announced that they had failed, meaning the war may continue uninterrupted once the two weeks are up. But even despite the ceasefire, tensions have remained high, and conflict has continued. Israel bombed Lebanon in a brutal blitz that killed upwards of 300 people- civilians, mind you- which Iran said was a violation of the ceasefire, while both Israel and the U.S said that Lebanon was not included in the ceasefire terms. This seems like something that should have been decided on previously, no? 

The entire ordeal has been an utter disaster and is a good representation on the war itself; an exchange of threats, promises, and fearmongering by both sides (mostly the U.S via Trump on Truth Social, but we’ll get to that later) that ultimately result in nothing but a whole lot of confusion and the continuation of hostilities via bombings and missile strikes. Like our past wars in the Middle East, it has put into question the politics of the United States and the capabilities of its leadership. However, while George W. Bush was a conservative buffoon dead set on dismantling the supposed ‘weapons of mass destruction’ that Iraq had and removing the government that enabled Al Qaeda from Afghanistan, no matter the cost in lives, money, and time, Donald Trump is another breed entirely. Here is a man whose entire existence is dedicated to making himself seem great, capable, intelligent, and worthy of the admiration his mindless supporters bestow on him. His only real goal is to enhance his ego and image, nothing else. Unfortunately, he’s been resoundingly successful at this in the last decade or so. 

Trump has been able to evade any and every meaningful attempt to take him down politically and legally, not really because of any innate skill or ability on his part (besides how he’s able to charm voters who aren’t too smart themselves) but because of just how broken the entire system here in the United States is. Except his associations with Jeffrey Epstein finally seemed poised to change that (like, actually, for real this time, no joke) 

Millions of files released by his Department of Justice revealed what rational voters- nay, rational people- already knew: that Trump and many other rich, white billionaires with their only real talent being avoiding taxes were part of Epstein's inner circle, participating in his sexual deviancy and moral degeneracy, or at the very least, enabling it by allowing it to happen.

 Even (some) people from the MAGA cult seemed to finally draw the line at pedophilia and call for the release of the files. Although they were released, albeit at a later date than was legally required, and with tons of them redacted (which the DOJ naturally faced no consequences for), calls for justice for the victims and public arrests continued, especially after Prince Andrew’s arrest in England. 

Trump and his cronies had been trying to get people to move on from this fiasco for months now, but the release of the files only seemed to reinvigorate the American public to focus on it. Too many people from both sides were calling for action, and he was the poster child for it. But what to do? To quell this much outrage, it would take a war to distract people… 

For a while, Trump had been making threats to Iran and its government following their harsh crackdown on protesters, which killed tens of thousands of civilians. These were all through his social media platform, Truth Social, but Trump has a long history of making deranged threats online and not following through with them, as a cyberbully might. Worries about Iran have lingered since the Twelve-Day War last June, when Israel bombed Iran in an attempt to cripple its nuclear weapon development. Despite Trump and Israel’s prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, saying that the program had been reduced to shreds, it turns out that-shocker!- they were exaggerating if not outright lying about the condition of the program after said war. 

However, the truth of the matter is that neither Trump nor Netanyahu actually cares about the state of Iran’s nuclear program. Netanyahu, in particular, has been saying since the 90s that Iran is a couple of years or even months from producing a successful nuclear weapon, which just goes to show how little both he and Trump care about the truth.

The war was also supposedly to bring about ‘regime change’ in Iran, but somehow without any direct military intervention, which seems extremely unlikely even in the fragile state Iran is in. The assassination of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei at the beginning of the war only got him replaced with his son, Mojtaba, who is not only said to be more of a hardliner than his father, but is probably not in a forgiving mood considering U.S./Israeli strikes killed his father, wife, and sister. 

The war in Iran has, as expected, been a disaster of catastrophic proportions for the Trump Administration. It’s gotten so bad that Melania Trump had to come out and announce that she wasn’t a victim of Epstein just so the press would stop talking about the war. In an ironic twist, the Epstein files are now being used to distract from the war in Iran instead of the other way around… What other buffoonery could we expect from the Trump administration?
